How does DEFNET work?
- DEFNET members are guided by an “operating framework” that describes its role and ways of working.
- DEFNET has a nominated chairperson (currently UK) and a Secretariat led by the deputy chairperson (currently NL) comprising of members from several Member States. The Secretariat serves as a point of contact between members and other organisations.
- DEFNET communication is conducted primarily through a dedicated members’ website and by email, with contact lists and the website maintained by the Secretariat.

- DEFNET members meet once each year at Plenary meetings, for all members and discussion of the full range of subjects of mutual interest, or at working group or special meetings to take forward particular issues. Members take it in turns to host the Plenary meetings.
- DEFNET members may invite participation from observers (such as the US DOD) and representatives of other organisations.
